Recovery Week

I'm in the Recovery Week. This morning I did the Core Synergistics, and tonight I went to the gym for a Crossfit Session. It actually felt good to do both. Now I'm going to bed.

Week 7 is OVER!

Today is Day 49 = Rest Day, I'm not doing anything fitness wise, but unfortunately I had to go to work for the most part of the day. Tomorrow Sunday, I will be starting a new recovery week with lots of Bananas...Ayaaaaaaa!

More pull-ups...more pull-ups...

I have not done pull-ups in awhile and it did not feel too bad. I kept an eye on the count from the previous weeks, and got a few more in at each step.
I now really see the benefits of taking a few days off during this program, and jumping back in it.
My Tip of the Day: "watch yourself before you wreck yourself!"
P90X is a very demanding program; and bringing it 6 days a week is not easy...so take some time off if you need to.

Starting Week 7 a week late

I am not taking any medicine anymore. I started week 7 last Saturday but realized how much I sucked after 2 days; bad performance, very fatigued, wheels were basically falling off.  So I decided to take the rest of last week off, and maintain strength and cardio with a couple of cardio kickboxing workouts and crossfit, and restart week 7 from scratch. So here I am today on Day 1 of Week 7. On the Shoulders/Triceps/Chest program, my performance was still overall better than on week 6. Tomorrow I'll be going back into the dreaded Plyometrics (I hate that one).
My Tip of the day: if you're really tired, take time off and come back with a vengeance!

Day 40 - Week 6

I'm still running on Prednisone and Zipac, and this week is going fairly well. For the first time, during the Plyometrics, I was able to do the Hot Foot (1 leg does cross shape for 1 minute) all the way through on both legs, nice!
The pull-ups are getting a little bit easier, but I still suck at pull-ups; It's just not my thing :(
My shoulders look better, belly is flatter, cardio has improved; I am still falling a little behind on Ab Ripper X, even if I start before Tony. Oh well...
I reached 150 lbs on the scale this morning (6 lbs less than on Day 1).
Could the steroids have anything to do with better performance ????

My visit at the Doc's

Last Friday I decided to go see the Doc; he put me on anti-inflammatory and antibiotics for several days. My physical was yesterday, everything was good, the inflammation seems to be under control and am trying to watch my diet, and eat a few things throughout the day. Lately, I had been concentrating on work and work, and skipped meals, drank less water..., and I got tired, and my body fat % actually went up ??? I talked to the Doc about it, and his answer was interesting: You need to eat more doing P90X, so that your metabolism keeps going throughout the day, breaking things down, burning fat and calories.  If you do not eat enough, your metabolism slows down (starvation mode), and is most likely going to store things as fat, rather than breaking them down and using them for fuel.  Another thing; if you eat complex carbs-type food (multi-grain bars, brown rice, etc...), it takes longer for your metabolism to break it down, so it works longer, and that's what you want. If you eat simple carbs (white rice, white bread, sugars, etc...), sure it's easier to break it down, but whatever your body doesn't break down for immediate use at that moment is stored as fat for future use. I'm not an expert, but I guess it makes sense. So let's eat more and see what happens.

The worst week of all

This week was the worst one by far. The very front of my knees hurt so I decided to skip Legs and Back a couple days ago. I went to the gym last night, and had trouble breathing; now my lungs are whistling and I think I may have bronchitis. I am supposed to have a physical next week, but I don't think that's going to happen. Maybe I can get an apt. to the Doc this afternoon?
